2002 CABERNET SAUVIGNON OAKVILLE NAPA VALLEY
2002 CABERNET SAUVIGNON OAKVILLE NAPA VALLEY
This vineyard is located at the corner of the Oakville Crossroad and the Silverado Trail. If you're familiar with the valley, you might know that this is a Magical area. The soil is made up of a mixture of igneous rocks and gravelly and clay loams on a gentle, west-facing incline right at the base of Pritchard Hill. This was our very first wine to be featured at the French Laundry in Yountville.
In the glass this it has all the makings of a classic Oakville cab; An Inky ruby/purple color with room filling aromatics that include crème de cassis, tobacco leaf, licorice, smoky oak, and cedar. Once you’ve got your mouth on it, the flavors continue and expand into blackberries, red and black currants, with hints of earth, tobacco and mint. Full bodied and dense with balanced acidity and smooth as silk tannins that have melted into the wine as it has aged for the past 10+ years in the bottle, in our cellar. The bottles may be covered with dust and spider webs on the outside but they are singing on the inside! Of 165 cases produced about 15 remain.
